Childhood memories can be a rollercoaster of emotions - happy, sad, intense, and everything in between. I still remember those Saturday morning cartoons, but let's be real, the dread of dusting the whole house while my brother got to vacuum wasn't exactly my fave 😆. Happy Monday, friends! Last week on Monday, I was basking in the Caribbean sun on my favorite seven mile beach in Negril, Jamaica 🇯🇲 and today I'm excited that it's finally stopped raining in metro Atlanta 🙌🏽 Growing up in Jersey I LIVED for the days I could go to the beach!! I always thought it was strictly due to having had to endure brutal winters, and that may have played a big part for sure, but it also is a place where I return to my breath. The place where I am present and connected to myself and to the earth. Taking in the sights, the sounds, the smells, the feel of the sand and the water, and the taste of the salt in the air (they all vary depending on the beach you are actually at, as the Jersey shore has it's own sights, smells, sounds, tastes, and feel for sure)! These are the basics of grounding yourself, rooted in your senses it regulates your nervous system, and hence, your body returns to your fundamental need to just breathe. I cherish my time spent at the beach and in nature in general always. I just didn't know how much it truly heals until I learned about mindfulness and started craving being regulated. The beach is my place...any beach, yes, but the seven mile beach seems to have deeper healing powers for your girl 😉 What's your place? Happy Sunday! Sunday a day of reset or rest? Productive or Reflective? Most people are familiar with the "Sunday Scaries." However, what do you do to explore their origin? Are you existing in a state of dissociation or mindfulness? I invite you to sit with yourself today, place your hand on your chest, and connect...connect with your breath...connect with the rhythm of your heart. Sunday doesn't have to be scary, and it doesn't have to be perfect. Two things can be true at the same time, so do what you must and do what you can and let them equate.
