Today brought good news.

The U.S. Supreme Court reaffirmed that birthright citizenship remains protected under the Fourteenth Amendment. That means children born in the United States—except in a few very limited circumstances—are U.S. citizens, regardless of their parents' immigration status.

We're grateful for this decision because it preserves a constitutional promise that has existed for generations.

At the same time, it's difficult to see such a foundational principle become so divisive. Some constitutional questions should unite us, not divide us.

For immigrant families, today's decision brings welcome certainty. If you're wondering how this ruling affects you or someone you love, our team is happy to answer your questions.

Many people think immigration cases are decided simply by checking boxes.

Did you submit the right forms? Did you meet the requirements? Did you provide the necessary documents?

While those factors are important, many immigration benefits involve something called discretion.

Discretion means that an immigration officer or judge may have the authority to decide whether a benefit should be granted, even when the applicant meets the legal requirements.

As a result, immigration cases are often about more than eligibility alone. The way a case is prepared, documented, and presented can have a significant impact on the outcome.

Understanding how discretion works—and taking steps to highlight the positive factors in your case—can make a real difference.
