After all the eating I did yesterday, the last thing I want to do is get out of bed. Instead I’m going to lounge all day in my comfy h**p bralette and boy shorts from . 😅

I’m actually not doing any shopping today. There are some great sales from sustainable brands I love, but I truly don’t need anything and I haven’t put much thought into gifts for others yet, so no shopping for me.

If you are shopping today, I encourage you to support sustainable small businesses.

Here are a few of my faves:
- is offering 40% off all of their h**p un**es (affiliate link in bio)
- is offering 20% off metal razors (gifted my sis one and she loves it)
- is offering 20% off their entire site (they have a variety of sustainable products)

Are you shopping today?

Does your hair define you?

Up until a couple of months ago, I’d never had extensions, braids, dye, or even relaxed my hair. I felt like since I had “good” hair, that I would be appropriating by doing any of the styles above.

But after expressing interest in wanting to try faux locs, a dear friend offered to help install them (she did 95% of the work). And now I’m upset that I never tried other hairstyles, particularly protective styles, sooner!

For so long I felt defined by my curly hair. I’d gotten so many compliments, so much praise for something that I had no control over. I felt it would be ungrateful to change my hair in anyway other than occasionally straightening it.

Since having these faux locs, I realize how skewed that thinking was. My hair doesn’t define me. Instead, it can be a form of expression. I can try different styles and still be me.

Have you had a complex relationship with your hair?
