Last week, Georgia Humanities was delighted to attend the TEDxAtlanta Toast to the 2026 Season and Social.
Our Board Chair and Interim President enjoyed connecting with current and past TEDxAtlanta partners, speaker alumni, and members of Atlanta's vibrant ideas ecosystem. Events like these remind us that some of the most impactful work begins with a conversation, building relationships, sharing perspectives, and exploring new opportunities for collaboration.
As a first year TEDxAtlanta and TEDxAtlanta Youth partner, Georgia Humanities is excited to collaborate on an upcoming TEDxAtlanta Salon and the TEDxAtlanta Conference on October 2 and 3. We look forward to engaging with thought leaders, storytellers, and community members who are helping shape important conversations across our state and beyond.
Thank you to Jacqui Chew and the TEDxAtlanta team for creating space for new connections and future collaborations. We can't wait to see what's ahead.

Join Hillside, Inc. and Georgia Humanities for an in-person panel discussion about The Loneliness Epidemic on Friday, June 5th from 8:30-9:30 am.
Across the country, more children and adolescents are reporting feelings of loneliness, disconnection, and a lack of belonging. Loneliness is not simply about being alone. It is the experience of not feeling seen, understood, or connected, even when others are present.
At the same time, caregivers, especially those supporting adolescents with mental health challenges, often experience their own form of loneliness, feeling overwhelmed, isolated, or unsure where to turn for support.
What this panel will discuss:
π What is driving the rise in loneliness among children, adolescents, and society at large
π How loneliness shows up in young people, including its connection to shame, withdrawal, and isolation
π The often-overlooked loneliness experienced by caregivers
π Practical, DBT-informed strategies to help young people build connections and tolerate social discomfort
π How caregivers can respond in ways that strengthen relationships while staying supported themselves
Join us for a thoughtful and practical conversation focused on connection, understanding, and the shared human need to feel seen and valued.
