Hi I'm Ricardo “Rico” de la Llama, and my wife and partner is Robin de la Llama. She was born in Massachusetts, I was born in Cuba, my family was forced to leave when our property, personal belongings and money were seized by Castro during the socialist party take over, when my father, a United States Navy Academy graduate and grandparents refused to join the communist party. B gun as a when I was 8 years old, living in Chicago of all places. My older brother, who was 15 years old, taught me how to use it. When I was 11 years old, my father handed me a replica 1911 C**t. He told me not to come back until I could to take it apart and put it back together. Even though it wasn’t a working model, I was hooked! I was sent to Admiral Farragut Academy a military boarding high school. I took the 1911 C**t replica with me. I was told, I couldn’t keep it. So, I traded it to another classmate for R***r Single Six (yes it did work), I gave it to my brother to hold until I graduated. I served in the U.S. Army Airborne Infantry. They were kind enough to loan me a M16 rifle, M203 gr***de launcher, 90MM Recoiless rifle "bazooka" and 1911 C**t 45 and experience with the fabled M 2 50 cal machine gun, which in my expanded my passion for fi****ms. Originally, I became NRA member, because it was required to obtain a license, to allow me to hunt in an area, near the Army base. I obtained my NRA Instructor Certification to allow me to teach others and help them get their Concealed Carry license in Florida. My love of sharing my passion with others, thrill of seeing that 1st spark of enthusiasm, helping to improve someone’s knowledge of fi****ms and gun safety is why I continued to teach others. There is nothing like the shared feeling of excitement when you see someone of hit the bullseye, for the 1st time. After the Army I started working in the fi****ms business first in retail in Miami. Then I was hired by a German Corp. to be there National Sales Manager which I did for a number of years. in 1986 that company closed its doors and moved back to Germany so it was back on the job market, because of the recent gun laws Manufacturers representative jobs had dried up and I didnt want to go back into retail so I changed careers . During those years continued to compete in local IDPA and USPSA matches. Also raised a couple of kids and had my parents move in with us right after the kids moved out. Missed the whole empty nest faze. Over the years, I have work for others and run 2 of my own companies. I have gained many skills from incredible mentors and teachers. Learning is a lifelong adventure. I am a Certified Gunsmith, Certified G***k and Sig Sauer Armorer, Chief Range Safety Officer, NRA Certified Basic Handgun, Rifle and Shotgun, USCCA Certified Concealed Carry and Home Defense Instructor.
