Yesh Malik

I got to hold my mom's hand when I watched her take her last breath, yesterday. She passed away in the evening surrounded by loving family. She was the strongest, best mama in the world. Fight me on it. I f%cking dare you. She taught me how to be funny; and we shared the same type of humor.

As a kid, I always used to ask her why I was born later than my sisters. She always told me that Mother Mary came to her in a dream telling her, "You're going to give birth to a special boy." I would always respond to that with, "Yeah. Whatever. I'm was just an accident. Admit it!" And it took me until her passing, yesterday, to see the purity of love behind that story; because I saw it purity of love exhale away and upward. But now, she gets to see Mother Mary and maybe have cocktails with her or something like that, and say, "Oh. When you said special, you meant gay."

Thank you, mama, you were the best one out there.
