Picked this up from NextDoor this morning...

There is a new scam where the caller claims to be from the FCC and that your info was used to open a (insert your carrier here) account that is being used for explicit images. They then claim that your account will be closed (with the fake one) if you don't file a claim and then offer to connect you to a LE agency.

Just a reminder that NO legitimate law enforcement agency will call you asking for money, a report, personal information, or in reality ever (unless returning your call). If they need to notify you of something, notices are delivered via mail, process server, or a law enforcement officer.

Remember, scammers are out there and can be VERY convincing. If it is real, the authorities will contact you in writing or in person.

Stay safe.

Where's the patrol car?

The CPLC Patrol has recently made an exciting change that will lower our costs, avoid some misunderstandings, and provide a more visible crime deterrent for our neighborhoods.

Starting in November the officers patrolling for CPLC Patrol are doing so in marked police cars. APD prefers this as when the officers patrol in our 2011 Honda CRV (or any other neighborhood car) they do not have access to their laptop, additional kit, and are not instantly recognized as police officers. The latter has led to a few minor confrontations that could have been avoided had the officer been in an APD vehicle. They can also respond to an incident in the neighborhood with lights and sirens which would reduce response time in an emergency.

We still have the ability via an app to ensure accountability with our officers and to ensure they are patrolling the area when on the clock.

Going forward, the money that was being used to maintain and insure the patrol car will be put back into patrol operations and hopefully more patrol hours.

Thanks and stay safe out there.
