🚨 FLOODING EMERGENCY IN SOUTH MISSISSIPPI 🚨

Perkinston is being overwhelmed by catastrophic flash flooding as the remnants of Tropical Storm Arthur continue to unload torrential rain across the region. Homes are inundated, residents are trapped, and first responders are carrying out water rescues, in some cases cutting through rooftops to reach people stranded by rapidly rising water.

The danger is far from over. An additional 4–7 inches of rain could fall before midnight, worsening an already life-threatening situation.

If you’re in flooded areas:
⚠️ Move to higher ground immediately
⚠️ Never drive through flooded roads
⚠️ Heed all evacuation and emergency instructions
⚠️ Stay off the roads unless absolutely necessary

We’re live on The Weather Channel tracking the flooding, ongoing rescues, and the latest forecast as Arthur’s remnants continue to impact the Deep South.

UPDATE at 11AM Wednesday: On the road eastbound on I-10 toward Mississippi as Tropical Storm Arthur, the first named storm of the 2026 Atlantic hurricane season, moves inland across the Gulf Coast. (I’m not driving, if you’re wondering)

According to the National Hurricane Center, Arthur is bringing heavy rain, flooding concerns, gusty winds, isolated tornadoes, and dangerous coastal conditions from Louisiana into Mississippi and parts of the Deep South.

We’ll be live from Mississippi with continuing coverage on The Weather Channel.

A reminder that hurricane season runs every year from June 1 through November 30. Arthur is the first name on the list, and likely not the last.

Stay with The Weather Channel all season long.
