Annie had commented on our Monday night post showing Rodrigo's full truck:
"Wow! A lot left over! I am wondering what happened to the 'gleaners' who came at the end just before the farmers? It was free for people to come and pick up things. Are you still doing that? I can not use or give away the larger amounts."
-----------------------------------------------------------------
-----------------------------------------------------------------
Annie, How much do you spend on food for your household in any given week? Is it at least $20? If so, then come donate $20 of that amount here at FoodCommune! ๐Ÿ˜
-----------------------------------------------------------------
People with families, large appetites, canning and freezing capacity, etc loooove getting the maximum (large!) amount of food for their $20 donation! ๐Ÿฅฆ๐Ÿ๐ŸŠ
-----------------------------------------------------------------
These people who get 5 full units of the stuff that we have in particular excess on any given Saturday ... eg on 1 recent Saturday, June 20th, we had:
โ™ ๏ธ BLACKBERRIES ... 2 flats (24 cartons) = 1 unit = $4 ($3 for Prepays)! ....
these people make out like bandits! ๐Ÿ˜ฎ
-----------------------------------------------------------------
But you do NOT have to take these large amounts! Take just as much as you can use or share without wasting ... mix n match the whole event (produce, pantry, coolers, breads) ... and just make sure that what you are taking would cost MORE THAN $20 at a grocery store, ... and Voila: Win-win -- More money in your pocket, less waste in the landfills! ๐Ÿ‘
-----------------------------------------------------------------
๐Ÿ•›-->๐Ÿ•‘ Come 12--2p if you want to make a $40 donation.
๐Ÿ•‘-->๐Ÿ•— Come later in the day ... any time 2--8p ... if you want to make just a $20 donation instead of $40.
๐ŸŒŽ Thank you for reducing food waste.

LYCHEE. The lychee is a small, sweet tropical fruit native to Southeast Asia and China.

Encased in a rough, pink-red, easily peeled rind, its translucent white flesh has a texture similar to a grape and tastes like a blend of strawberry, watermelon, and rose water.
-----------------------------------------------------------------
๐Ÿ˜‹ Taste and Texture. Described as tasting like a honey-soaked grape with a floral or "rosy" aroma, the fruit is incredibly juicy. At the center lies a single dark, inedible seed. The flesh is mostly water and is highly refreshing.
-----------------------------------------------------------------
How to Eat
๐Ÿ‘‰ Peel: Simply use your fingernail to crack or puncture the thin, leathery skin. It should peel away much like a hard-boiled egg.
๐Ÿ‘‰ Eat: Pop the white, fleshy fruit into your mouth, being careful to eat around the hard central seed, which should be discarded.
๐Ÿ‘‰ Uses: While mostly enjoyed fresh, lychees are frequently used in jellies, ice creams, smoothies, and cocktails.
