Peacebuilding Solutions was founded by a group of like-minded people who realized there must be a better way to ensure that people who are suffering are treated with the dignity and respect
they deserve, while also giving them a voice in determining the fate of their own community. We seek to reshape and improve current practices in the fields of peacebuilding, humanitarian aid, and reconstruction of communities affected by conflict and natural disasters. Peacebuilding Solutions works with afflicted communities by empowering them to become key stakeholders in their own future, enabling them to remain independent and self-sufficient by providing them with the tools and resources needed for continued success. We realize that each community has its own unique challenges, which is why we don’t take a one-size-fits-all approach when providing assistance to those in need. Peacebuilding Solutions is keenly aware that current practices of humanitarian aid must be changed, because far too often the good intentions of outside groups can have negative long-term consequences for communities if not properly implemented. Unfortunately, in crisis situations many refugee camps today are built rapidly and with little regard to long-term considerations such as sustainable shelters, water, and sanitation. These camps are built to be temporary, yet often end up housing refugees and internally displaced persons (IDPs) for many years on a more permanent basis. As a result, the health, safety and quality of life for many refugees and IDPs is at risk while their futures are in jeopardy, remaining completely dependent upon others in order to survive. Our team of experts works with communities in need by offering a hand up (rather than a hand out) so that they have the resources needed to organically rebuild from within while strengthening the community around them. The mission of Peacebuilding Solutions is to focus our efforts on those living in refugee camps by ensuring the needs of each individual are heard while we are on the ground investigating the appropriate strategic path forward. This process and community intervention enables us to make sure money and resources are distributed in the most cost effective and efficient manner possible. We help communities become actively involved in shaping their own future so they can learn to thrive instead of simply survive. Whether providing sneakers to children so they can walk to school on dirt roads without getting injured, water filtration tanks (built and installed by community members themselves), fishing poles to enable villagers to provide food for their families, or tools and seeds to aid in agricultural development and sustainable food, we listen to the needs of these communities and ensure they are provided the appropriate skills and resources which will yield the greatest long-term results. We are a revolution in aid delivery – a paradigmatic shift that changes the way refugees are cared for and treated. Through our careful and culturally sensitive research in each community we enter, the interventions and aid we provide reflect what the community has determined is necessary.
