I see a lot of men in therapy. One of the common threads of the work is helping men to rewrite the story of masculinity. That vulnerability is a super human power. Put words to emotions they avoid. Round out the edges of the “acceptable” emotions, such as anger and frustration. Listen to what the emotion is saying and put words to it. Seeking connection as a balm.

Everyone has a reproductive story.

Unsuccessful attempts to conceive and other setbacks disrupt the story.

You might be wondering, “Why do I feel like crying when I walk past the baby aisle in the store?” “Why don’t I want to go to (yet again) another baby shower?”

These are common emotional reactions among those living with infertility. Common reactions to, “What was supposed to happen” in the reproductive story” didn’t happen in the journey to conceive and often without ways to cope with how to cope.

Women usually go inside, which increases isolation and loneliness.

What hurts more, is that no one else can see what you are going through.
