It began with my love for my little beagle mix girls, Sandy and Sugar, my ignorance of the overpopulation issues, and a one eyed dachshund black lab mix named Toby. I found Toby in the parking lot of my office complex. He had gotten away from a rescue organization just down the road and crossed the big four lane. He had a tag on so I called them to return him. I found out he had been adopted and r

Happy Belated Birthday to GOUDA!
She turned 12 yesterday and I forgot! 😢

Gouda was born here and is the last remaining ā€œcheeseā€ puppy in the house. She was adopted as a pup and returned later in life. The home had not taken care of her and do to clinic ear infections they address, her ears had shriveled up from hematoma, and the infection had killed the nerves that trigger moisture to the eyes. She ended up losing one eye and we battle daily to keep the other eye moist with lots of medication’s. She’s 90% blind now but she gets around well and is happy. She lost both her brothers this year (Cheddar and Mozzie) but she seems to be hanging in there. She is still all smiles and active and that’s all we can want for her. She sleeps in my bedroom at night and loves to hang out with the little dogs during the day.

Happy Birthday sweet girl. I hope we get to see more together. Today I’m going to cook her some ground turkey as a birthday treat.

Happy Senior Sanctuary Dog Sunday!

I’m going to try to do this every Sunday so everyone can become familiar with our senior sanctuary program and the dogs that you’re supporting above and beyond the ones that are available for adoption.

I have always tried to focus on the dogs that no other Rescue will take because of bite histories or socialization problems. Unfortunately, a lot of these dogs end up being sanctuary dogs because people won’t give them a chance once they’ve had a strike against them or they are a
liability to adopt out. I’ve done my best to give them a great quality of life here at the kennel house but we continue to need your help.

I am outlining the implementing of a sponsorship program for individuals and/or companies to help us give these seniors what they need and hope to roll that out soon.

Today…

MEET MURPHY. He is a spunky 15-year-old man that I’m currently watching dig a hole in the yard. I’m just glad to see him outside being active, which is very rare at his age. Murphy has severe allergies, and several small masses on his little

Welcome Back Ferris. 😢. Ferris was returned today. He was adopted as a puppy and is now 1 1/2 yrs old.

He’s a very loving, super sweet boy but has had occasional issues with strangers. 99% of the time he is fine and he has been through extensive training so he knows tons of words and commands. Ferris also has been diagnosed with a ā€œpossibleā€ auto immune disease and is on 2.5 mg dose prednisone every other day.

This is no place for this boy and once we get him evaluated and consult with his vet, I can make a more detailed informational post. I hope we can find him a home or even a foster home. He grew up sleeping on the couch and is now allocated to a crate. 😢

If you would like to discuss Ferris once we evacuate him ourselves, pls message me. We got some very valuable information from the Trainer, and will use that going forward as as well. Note: They never saw any issues with stranger but that was not his house or home.

Ferris says he is a good boy and he just needs to right place to romp.

Meet Koko! 🩷
Koko is a 1-year-old, 9-pound bundle of love and endless fun! She is incredibly playful, affectionate, and happiest when she’s surrounded by people who want to cuddle and play.

Sadly, Koko is being owner-surrendered because her family doesn’t have enough time to meet the needs of such an energetic young dog.

Here’s what we know about this sweet girl:🐾 Crate trained🐾 Not yet housebroken, so she’ll need patience and consistency with potty training. Forgotten Paws is always happy to help guide her new family with training tips and best practices.🐾 Has never walked on a leash, so she’ll be learning that exciting new skill.🐾 Loves other dogs, both big and small.🐾 Great with kids.🐾 Has never been around cats, so we don’t yet know how she would do with them.

Koko is looking for someone who will shower her with love, spoil her with lots of toys, enjoy snuggling on the couch, and give her the happy, active life she deserves.

She is currently located in Kennesaw, Georgia, but is available for adoption throughout the Greater Atlanta area and surrounding suburbs.

This coming week, Koko will be updated on all vaccinations, heartworm tested, and microchipped. Her spay surgery is scheduled for July 14, and we’d love to have a forever home—or even a foster home—waiting for her where she can comfortably recover while beginning her new chapter.

If you think Koko could be the perfect addition to your family, please reach out. Let’s find this little girl the loving home she deserves! ā¤ļø
