This is an interesting read on alleged price fixing schemes. The unredacted emails appear in an unfavorable light for the generic drug makers.

The point of generic drug makers is to introduce competition to brand name products and reduce prices. Perhaps this strategy, used presumably to maximize profit, indicates the need for generic drug makers to maximize profit in order to continue competing with brand name pharmaceutical companies, but this is just speculation.
