🏐 Shortness of breath during sports? Don't ignore it.

I've known Jaya since she was 3 years old, and now she's a 7th-grade national-level volleyball player. πŸ’ͺ

Recently, she started noticing something wasn't right. After conditioning and intense practices, she was experiencing coughing and shortness of breath that felt different from normal fatigue.

For young athletes, symptoms like these can sometimes be related to asthma or exercise-induced airway inflammation. That's why we're taking a closer look with objective testing, including lung function testing and FeNO (fractional exhaled nitric oxide) testing, which can help us identify inflammation in the airways.

The goal isn't just to diagnose a problemβ€”it's to help athletes perform at their best and breathe comfortably while doing what they love.

Many kids assume coughing or shortness of breath during exercise is something they just have to push through. Sometimes it is normal exertion, but sometimes it's a sign that further evaluation is needed.

If your child is struggling to keep up, coughing after workouts, or experiencing unexplained shortness of breath during sports, it may be worth getting checked out.

Let's help young athletes stay healthy, confident, and game-ready. 🏐✨

πŸ•πŸ¦ From strict avoidance to pizza and ice cream!

Meet Avery, a patient who spent nearly six years avoiding milk because of her allergy. Today? She's enjoying pizza, ice cream, and looking forward to milkshakes and s'mores. πŸŽ‰

For years, her family was told avoidance was the safest option. They even discussed other treatments before finding us through a referral and social media.

After completing milk oral immunotherapy, Avery is now regularly consuming milk and safely incorporating dairy into her diet. Seeing moments like this never gets old.

Food allergies can be life-changing, but for many patients, avoidance isn't the only option. With the right evaluation, education, and treatment plan, some families may have more choices than they realize.

A huge thank you to Avery and her family for allowing us to share their journey. Stories like hers give hope to other families navigating food allergies every day. ❀️

"Not allergic like this... allergic like THAT." πŸ‘€πŸŒ³πŸ±

One of the most important parts of allergy testing is helping patients understand what their results actually mean.

In this skin test, the positive and negative controls help us determine which reactions are significant. This patient showed strong reactions to tree pollens, grasses, and even cat allergens.

The surprising part? She has two cats at home, plays with them regularly, and doesn't feel like they bother her at all! 🐈🐈

Many people don't realize they can be sensitized to an allergen without immediately connecting it to their symptoms. That's why allergy testing is so valuableβ€”it helps uncover hidden triggers and gives us a roadmap for treatment.

The goal isn't just to identify allergies. It's to help patients feel better and get back to enjoying life without constant symptoms.

Did you know skin allergy testing can look different depending on your skin tone? πŸ‘€

When we perform allergy skin testing, we're looking for more than just redness. In patients with darker skin complexions, redness may not be as visible, which is why experience and proper interpretation are so important.

In this video, we walk through positive and negative controls and show how allergy specialists evaluate reactions to common allergens like trees, grasses, ragweed, cat dander, and dust mites. 🌳🌾🐱

Every patient is different, and understanding these differences helps us make accurate diagnoses and create the best treatment plan possible.

Thinking about dyeing your hair? Watch this first πŸ‘€

Hair dye reactions are more common than people realizeβ€”and the main culprit is a chemical called PPD (paraphenylenediamine) 🚨

That’s why every box says the same thing:
Do a 48-hour patch test.

Here’s how:
βœ”οΈ Apply a small amount behind your ear or on your inner arm
βœ”οΈ Wait 48 hours
βœ”οΈ Watch for redness, itching, swelling, or irritation

No reaction? You’re likely okay to proceed.
Reaction? Do NOT use that dye.

Because once a true allergy develops, reactions can be severeβ€”and even worsen with repeat exposure.

Quick, simple, and could save you from a major reaction.

Don’t skip the test.
