OSPOLY Mass Communication Students Lament announcement of #1500 for Film Production Practical Fee

HND 2 Mass Communication students of Osun State Polytechnic, Iree broadcast option has lamented the price of film production practical fee despite paying for practical fee during school fee payment.

This came after the announcement of film production fee which is one thousand five hundred( #1500) by the representative of the crew who dropped the message on the class WhatsApp platform.

Part of the message reads; All broadcast students are to pay the sum of #1500 for the film production on before 3rd of May, 2021

Note: It is compulsory for all broadcast students to be a participant in the production process as it is part of continuous assessment.

Students, however, condemn this harsh attitude of lecturers in the department stating that they exploit students often without considering their numerical advantage and the economic hardship.

"It is only in mass communication you continue to pay for everything after school fee payment,you pay for almost four to five different practical after paying school fee fee"

"These people have to consider that the economy is hard and there is hardship everywhere, mass communication is just a money making department and lecturers are designed fond of making life miserable for students"

A student who don't want name imprint expressed disdain towards the attitude of the handlers of the process that they never consider the opinion of the students but went ahead to fix prices.

Another students stated that the department is fond of using every opportunity to mint money and this present set is not ready to pay any fee that will make other people rich at the expense of the students.

Ayo urged students to join hands together and raise voices against this maltreatment by joining hands together to fight this oppression.

The students urged the school management under the leadership of Dr. Olawoye Olaniran the rector as this hardship is becoming too much to bear.

The 14th edition of The Headies award has come and gone but it will be remembered for a long while as it is the first time it went virtual due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
This edition witnessed fast-rising singers like Fireboy DML, Bad Boy Tims and Omah Lay receive their first plaque. The event was hosted by Bovi and Nancy Isime.
