Work your way backwards once the tarp's front has been flattened and secured. At strategic locations, put more bungee straps to the tarp to fasten it to your trailer or the load itself. A second ratchet strap placed across the tarp's center will keep that area flat. Finally, use bungee rope to completely encircle the load from corner to corner. As a result, the tarp's edges are protected from the load.

The benefit of employing bungee rope in this situation is that you can apply quite large sections of rope without endangering the load's safety.
