Just a statistic for you in light of Ed Blum's attacks on DEI:

It took over 100 years for a Black Business to make it onto the American Stock Exchange. In 1972, Johnson Products Company became the very first. The company was founded by Joan and George Johnson in 1954 and went on to become the biggest supplier of hair care products for the African-American market.

BET was the first Black Business to make it onto the New York Stock Exchange in 1991.

I was born in 1978 and in 1991 I was in the 7th grade. The idea of Black wealth and possibilities for us to be present in C-Suite positions and have any real influence in corporate America is a concept that has only been in existence in MY lifetime. This attack on efforts to right the ship for black, brown and underrepresented communities and repair the historical damage and unfair treatment to create opportunities for our families to participate in the Great American Experiment is RACIST, WRONG and IMMORAL.

I won't stop saying it and I hope you won't either.

Black and Asian enrollment at certain Top Schools has declined in light of the Supreme Court's dismantling of Affirmative Action and now the group that brought that suit is threatening to sue again because Asian student enrollment has declined (with NO mention in their threatening letter of the decline in Black student enrollment). This is another white supremacist tactic to pit black and brown people against one another and I refuse to ignore it.

I hope you don't either.

Shoutout to everyone who had to heal themselves…

Shoutout to the ones who healed themselves while navigating a relationship or proximity to the person that broke you…

Shoutout to the ones who healed themselves because they asked, begged, pleaded for help that never came, so you took the needle and thread and stitched up all those ripped and torn pieces and made a life, and even now, the scars break and tear if you move the wrong way, but you do your best to ensure that you don’t bleed on anyone else…

Shoutout to the ones who healed themselves and became a healer…

Shoutout to you…
