On a routine Tuesday morning in 1999, five Atlanta office workers entered elevator seven at the Marquis Tower. Security cameras recorded them stepping in together at 9:17 AM on the forty-second floor. What happened during their descent would become one of the most baffling mysteries in building history.

The elevator stopped between floors thirty-eight and thirty-nine due to mechanical failure. Emergency crews arrived after twenty-three minutes to rescue the trapped passengers. But when technicians forced open the doors, only three people remained inside, confused and disoriented.

Two employees, Sarah Chen and Marcus Rodriguez, had completely vanished without a trace. Investigators searched every inch of the elevator shaft, the entire building, and surrounding areas but found nothing.
