Why doesn’t anyone tell you that it is difficult to breastfeed when you’re only making colostrum, initially? Why doesn’t anyone tell you it takes even longer for your milk to come in after a c-section? Hey mamas, did any of you experience this?

I had to have an emergency c-section which was not my initial birth plan. With an uncomplicated and low-risk pregnancy, I had planned on giving birth via water. Not only did that plan calm through, so did my plan to breastfeed my newborn. It was a difficult journey in the first week…my ni***es were beyond sore, my baby was frustrated, and I wasn’t making enough colostrum.

Postpartum kicked me in the face right out the door when I took my baby to the pediatrician for the first time. My newborn has lost even more weight and I was in shambles. Never once was it mentioned that I wasn’t far off-track because I had a c-section and delayed milk production was normal…

What a time…I’m so happy I was determined to keep trying and now my little bubb is happily suckling milk galore.
