The last few days have been surreal. Monday morning, Lauren Bullis was taken from us. It’s devastating. She was a dear friend of mine and my wife’s, and many, many others. Lauren always showed up, always made you feel welcomed, always had a smile on her face. She was truly a beautiful soul. I’ll miss shooting the h***h, Friendsgiving dinners, the hangouts, and the Louisiana “King Cake crack” she would make that I would always eat too much of. I’ll never understand how or why this happened. But I do know she touched many people in her life, and we are all missing her terribly right now. 💔

A post-hearing statement from Mike Chapel:
"Ok there gang, that’s the evidentiary hearing, I want to get ahead of the questions I know are coming. So here we go.
-This hearing was limited to just the witness question; was he hid from defense? And does his testimony matter?
*LEOs and Lawyers will tell you most crimes do not occur in church and witnessed by saints. “Tookies” of the world are very common. The job is trying to find the “ peanuts in the pile of ___” as a real investigator once told me in dealing with the less than boy scout types.
Here, our witness being who he is, opened the door to allow the expert testimony we saw. This is just how it works; one leads to another. And these experts were great!
*The Judge’s June 25 order declaring Brady violations did not have the forensic reports yet. But he saw enough to have this hearing. His including, “Inadvertent Suppression is a brady violation” tells me he has looked at all the evidence I know you all wanted discussed in open court. I too wanted full disclosure, but the court limited us to this single topic. Remember, Brady just takes one prejudicial event to reverse. This court does have the Northside Report that was suppressed for 30 years, he will see not only this witness was suppressed, but at least a half a dozen others of similar society standing but a story to tell.
*As said our experts were great. I was very pleased that after all this time people smarter than me saw the crime scene to be the garbage it was. That the raincoat was not part of this event. A few things to remember.
-I tried for 14 years to get DNA testing on my raincoat and all my gear I wore that night. No one but Daniel J Porter fought a vicious fight in trial and GA Supreme Court to prevent this from happening. Why? He knows the truth, the coat and I were never there. Also, as testified at trial, the coat very well may have been contaminated by GBI DNA expert Dr. Goof. Excuse me, Dr. Goff. An incredible middle school science class error in handling evidence.
-The testimony on the door jam sample needs a tad more clarity. The door was found shut and locked. This sample was so inaccessible no other theory but the door being open makes sense. The lame claim by the state it could have come from removal of the victim? Uh no, she was removed on the driver's side and laid on the white sheet. I suggest the state really examine their pics.
-Speaking of those, I know some of you recorded the hearing. Check States exhibit 15, exterior driver’s side door looking in. Note the upper left top, passenger side dash. You will see the now infamous yellow rose. You know, the one that disappeared.
-So, what’s next? We wait for the transcript, late April we hope. Both sides proposals for order, why he should rule or not to flip this case. Best case, late May.
-The big question is why this AG keeps choosing to continue the pain of this case. The lame fight we saw in the hearing makes this fight seem useless for the state. Had AG embraced the reversal for the sake of justice he would have looked the hero. Now at the same time of his governor run primary he will be dealing with this again.
That’s about it gang, thank you all for your love and support. Will be in touch soon. GGT- Mike out."
