Earlier today, DFOWW Incorporated, a federally recognized 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, coordinated a community food distribution at Petco in the Edgewood Retail District.

We extend our sincere appreciation to Ms. Meredith and every volunteer who dedicated their time and effort to helping support families within our community. ❤️

📸 Please take a moment to look through some of the photos from today’s distribution and see the impact firsthand.

In Georgia, more than 1.6 million people experience food insecurity, including hundreds of thousands of children. Organizations such as Feeding America, Feeding Georgia, and the Atlanta Community Food Bank serve as critical safety nets by helping provide millions of meals and resources to communities in need each year. Their work is essential and deeply appreciated.

At DFOWW Incorporated, we complement those efforts through our Write-Right Nutrition Program (WRNP), which combines supplemental food assistance, personal care items, and essential supplies with structured nutrition literacy education workshops.

DFOWW Incorporated’s Write-Right Nutrition Program complements traditional food assistance efforts by pairing supplemental food support with nutrition literacy education designed to promote long-term wellness and self-sufficiency.

Our mission goes beyond simply providing food access. We believe education + nutrition = empowerment.

While emergency food assistance helps address immediate needs, our workshops are designed to help individuals and families build long-term wellness, food sustainability knowledge, healthier eating habits, budgeting skills, nutrition label comprehension, gardening education, and practical strategies for stretching limited grocery resources further.

Our program focuses on helping participants not only access food today, but also gain knowledge and tools that may help support healthier and more sustainable choices for the future.

This educational approach is one of the things that makes DFOWW Incorporated’s Write-Right Nutrition Program unique. We are not simply operating as a traditional food pantry model — we are a nutrition literacy and wellness education program that incorporates supplemental food support as part of a broader mission to empower communities through education.

Food insecurity continues to impact families, seniors, and individuals throughout our communities. Providing free supplemental food assistance and essential supplies can help reduce financial strain, allowing households to redirect limited income toward other critical needs such as rent, utilities, healthcare, and medication.

Fresh produce also plays an important role in long-term wellness. Tomatoes and cherry tomatoes are nutrient-rich foods packed with vitamins A, C, and K, potassium, and lycopene — nutrients that support heart health, healthy skin, vision, and overall wellness.

Today, DFOWW Incorporated hosted a free food distribution at Growth Mindset Wellness in Stockbridge, Georgia as part of our Write-Right Nutrition Program (WRNP). Through this initiative, we are working to bridge the gap for low-income families, seniors, and individuals experiencing food insecurity while also promoting nutrition literacy and healthier lifestyle choices.

The WRNP goes beyond supplemental food assistance. Our program includes six in-person nutrition literacy workshops designed to provide practical education on:

• Healthy eating habits
• Meal planning and budgeting
• Food sustainability
• Long-term wellness strategies
• Kids & Parents Gardening education
• Nutrition label reading and comprehension
• Eating healthy while living in a food desert

Each workshop also includes a catered meal to help create a supportive and welcoming learning environment for participating families.

At DFOWW Incorporated, we believe education + nutrition = empowerment. Our goal is not only to provide immediate support, but also to equip families with the knowledge and tools needed to build healthier, more sustainable futures.

Please take a moment to view some of the photos from today’s distribution below. If you attended and feel comfortable, feel free to tag yourself.
