Lazarus
Weekly Teams: Since the year 2000, small groups of Lazarus volunteers have been going to downtown Atlanta to come alongside those who are facing homelessness. Through faithful engagement we have seen some of our chronically homeless friends seek help through long-term programs and services, find permanent housing, and some become regular Lazarus volunteers. We had an amazing turnout for our Spring Party a few weeks ago as 270 guests and 73 volunteers gathered for a fun afternoon together! The sunshine was abundant, our hearts were filled, and it was a great time with our community.
Dozens and dozens of our guests received haircuts, manicures, showers, and foot care thanks to the hard work of our volunteers in those areas. You could see the pride and gratitude on the faces of our guests afterwards. One guest, Telicia, said, “It feels so good to look and feel better again.” Another gentleman, Darius, commented after his haircut that “I always feel like a new man after a haircut.”
These simple acts of kindness and service are powerful as they help restore dignity and confidence to our friends on the streets. Many others registered to vote and signed up for SNAP benefits which will have a positive impact going forward.
Our favorite moments were seeing guests and volunteers engaging with each other - playing games, eating and hanging out, praying together, kids on the bounce houses, and lots of folks dancing together. That was our hope and prayer - that everyone present would feel seen, heard, and connected on this fun afternoon.
We are so thankful for our guests bringing such joy into our time together. Even in the midst of the challenges they face and overcome, our friends showed up ready to participate and interact with everyone.
We are also grateful for our volunteers and partners for welcoming our unhoused neighbors with kindness and hospitality. This posture reflects the heart of Lazarus, and impacts lives far beyond the event. Our partners include: .footclinic Heard Entertainment, Atlanta NAACP, and Feet on the Street Ministries. Thank you all so much!
Thank you as well to for capturing the beautiful and meaningful moments from the event. Go to our Spring Party 2026 Facebook photo album to see the rest of the incredible images from this fantastic day together.

It’s been a couple of weeks, but we’re still celebrating our Super Bowl Parties with our unhoused neighbors in Atlanta and Washington D.C.
In Atlanta, 115 guests and volunteers gathered at Safehouse Outreach and enjoyed the food, fun, and festivities together. Our volunteers came with an abundance of delicious chili for everyone to enjoy. We want to give a big shout out to Operation Kindness, a new partner who brought ribs and wings which were a hit! There was some good-hearted trash talk as folks debated which team would win the game or score the first touchdown. More importantly, it was a joy to see our community come together, take time to slow down and connect, and just enjoy quality time with one another.
In Washington D.C., close to 100 folks at Central Union Mission took part in all the festivities. The decorations set the mood, there was plenty of food, and then lots of fun with the raffles and trivia. There was a true spirit of welcoming where guests could feel safe, relax, and enjoy the big game together.
Thank you again to all of our amazing volunteers, as well as the hospitality and generosity of our partners and for making this another super fun and meaningful Super Bowl Sunday!

Our Christmas Dinner two weeks ago was incredible! A whopping 375 guests and volunteers gathered at to celebrate this Christmas season and another year of kinship together.
It was a beautiful afternoon with our unhoused neighbors as we shared in the joy of being in community. We are thankful the weather cooperated as we sat down side-by-side, ate a delicious holiday meal, enjoyed the 100 dozen Christmas cookies, and sang Christmas carols together.
It was especially heartwarming to see all of us enjoying conversations around the tables and throughout the area. So many smiles and laughs told the story of how we are at our best when we are connected with one another in our community.
There was such a welcoming and warm posture of kindness and hospitality throughout the event. One gentleman said, “Everyone was so friendly and helpful, and I appreciate that.”
One woman shared how “one young lady talked with me and prayed for me, and that means so much.” Another guest exclaimed how much he “loved the Christmas carols” and how “those singers really brought the energy and fun to the party!”
We want to say thank you to all of our volunteers and partners for making this event such a festive and meaningful time. We especially want to recognize the following partners: for hosting us so well once again, for providing delicious coffee and hot chocolate, for providing a shuttle bus for our guests, and for photographing the event so beautifully.

We hope you have a joy-filled Christmas and holiday season with your friends and family. Thank you for your continuing prayers, support, and participation with us as we come alongside our neighbors living on the margins. Merry Christmas!
