Zeta Mu Alphas
has supplied voice and vision to the struggle of African-Americans and people of color around the world. Alpha Phi Alpha, the first intercollegiate Greek-letter fraternity established for African-Americans, was founded at Cornell University in Ithaca, New York by seven college men who recognized the need for a strong bond of Brotherhood among African descendants in this country. With courage in my heart and purpose in my stride, I am Tunnie Ree Cato stepping into this journey with a mission rooted in truth, healing, and hope.
My platform, “Beyond the Shadows,” is born from my own experience as a domestic violence survivor. For years, I navigated silence, fear, and uncertainty but I refused to let my story end there. Today, I stand as a voice for those still finding theirs, committed to bringing visibility, support, and compassion to survivors who deserve to be seen.
My advocacy is grounded in breaking stigma, creating safe spaces, and reminding women that there is life, strength, and power beyond what tried to break them. I am here to shine a light where darkness once lived.
As I take this journey, I’m not just stepping onto a stage I’m stepping into purpose. I am ready to hold the crown as the next Miss Old Gold and Black, carrying the stories of survivors with me and leading with authenticity, resilience, and faith.
