Yesterday was great! We hosted a Venomous Snake for First Responders training at the Limestone County Emergency Management Agency.

We had 25 first responders from across Limestone County attend, including personnel from Athens Police Department - Alabama, Limestone County Sheriff's Office, EMS, Athens Fire & Rescue, and several county volunteer fire departments.

This training covered how to properly ID venomous snakes, handle safety protocols when venomous snakes are present on emergency scenes, and learn how to secure the scene and perform medical protocols for snakebites.

Special thanks to Dr. Wesley Anderson with Alabama Extension and a grant through the Alabama RC&D Council who made this opportunity possible for our first responders!
