Andrew Thompson started Thompson Farms more than 20 years ago alongside his father, Raymond Thompson. He saw a need for good quality meat, raised the old fashioned way- on pasture, with less stress. What he found in the grocery store wasn’t cutting it so he set out to find a way to do it himself. God gave him a passion in his heart and the determination to do something about it.

He raised hogs on pasture and built a harvesting center and processing facility right there on the farm so the pigs didn’t have to be transported. They learned how to foster biodiversity, excellent animal welfare and to harvest and process the meat with minimal waste. Years later, the farm has expanded but the values are still the same.

Today, he continues to run the family business with his sister (Donna), his son (Bayly) and a team of talented butchers.

The term “know your farmer, know your food” is very true when it comes to our farm because the guy who started it all was a pig farmer out there with the pigs every single day. He is self taught in the craft of butchering pork. He knows the process from start to finish bc he’s had a hand in it all.

That’s something you won’t get from the big brands. They spend millions of $$$ on pretty packaging and marketing to convince you that their product is “clean”, “all natural”, “sustainable” and “farm raised”. But the truth is, the CEO probably isn’t feeding their product to his own children!
