The Cognitive-Communication Rehabilitation Lab serves adults and adolescents with traumatic brain injury (TBI) or concussion. Our research examines functional rehabilitation to support people with brain injury returning to productivity at work and school. Current projects are focused on the return to school following brain injury, episodic future thinking, and metamemory and metacognition after brain injury.

Concussion research suggests longer recovery time for learning 05/02/2019

Last week, Dr. O'Brien was at the Minnesota Brain Injury Alliance Annual Conference presenting research from the lab on return to learn after concussion. Fox 9 News in Minneapolis pulled together a really nice piece explaining the results of master's student Rebecca Posey's thesis! Thanks for all of your work, Rebecca, and happy graduation!

Concussion research suggests longer recovery time for learning New research on brain concussions in high school students suggests the timetable on how quickly students should return to school should be changed. It also shows the recovery period is much longer than previously thought.
