| Meet the Team: Neighbors to Teammates 🎾

One group of local ladies has taken β€œcommunity” to the next level! πŸ’š

What started as a few neighbors splitting tennis lessons with their neighbor and coach, Debbie Beck, quickly grew into something much bigger. Over the past few years, weekly neighborhood clinics, Sunday speed singles, and fun family tennis days have helped these Athens neighbors build both their skills and their friendships.

Encouraged by Debbie, the ladies officially formed a COTA tri-level team this past season after planning it all together at a neighborhood holiday breakfast!

For this team, tennis has become more than just a sport. It’s a way to connect with neighbors, welcome new friends, and build lasting friendships both on and off the court.

Sports have the power to bring people together, and we love seeing how tennis continues to strengthen our community. πŸ‘πŸŽΎ

Team members include: Allison March, Eleanor Patterson, Heather Tabor, Sabrina Campbell, Angie Garcia, Jessica Morgan, Lindy Davis, Kasey Shuler, and Beth Katz.

🎾 Tip Tuesday is here!

This week, Coach Lloyd shares how to handle those tricky lobs β€” don’t back up, take it out of the air! Stepping in and cutting off the lob early can keep you on offense, apply pressure, and stop your opponent from resetting the point.

Be decisive, move your feet, and own the net πŸ’₯

Want to sharpen your net play? Coach Lloyd offers private and semi-private lessons and coaches regularly at Athens Tennis Center through Athens Leisure Services on the east side of town.

Next time you see that lob go up, take it early and stay in control πŸ™Œ
