We’re so excited to welcome Dr. Christy Perez (also known as C. Dreams) to the Inclusive Recovery Athens team as our new Community Engagement Specialist for Virtual Programs.

Dr. Perez is a theologian, historian, and abolitionist whose work stretches from prison cells to policy tables. She has dedicated her life to building a world where everyone has space to belong and be seen. As the first tr*******al woman admitted for study with the Third Order of Carmelites, she brings a unique mix of faith, knowledge, and strategy to every space she enters.

Her writing has been featured in The Appeal, Business Insider, Salon, HuffPost, and LGBTQ Nation, always with the goal of exposing harm and creating real solutions. She currently serves as a Community Advisor at Emory University, is a Columbia University fellow, and was named Grand Marshal for Atlanta Pride 2025.

We can’t wait to see how she expands access and helps remove barriers to recovery, healing, and community support across the country.

🌈 Join us at for this year’s Recovery Meet-Up! 🌈

Atlanta Pride has always made space for recovery, and we are proud to continue building that tradition together. Year after year, we create space for connection, support, and belonging right in the heart of the festival.

On Saturday, October 11 at 12 noon at the Greystone Patio in Piedmont Park, we are hosting a non-denominational all-recovery meeting chaired by recovery champion Neil Campbell. Everyone who identifies as being in recovery or seeking recovery is welcome.

We honor every pathway to recovery, from 12-step to Dharma and SMART Recovery, to harm reduction and non-abstinence. Your path is valid and celebrated.

Join us as we hold space for our own and celebrate recovery in all its forms. Bring a friend, bring your story, bring yourself. 💜
