Dutchman Fountains

This photo of Crozierville Elementary School, which was the home of Dutchman Fountains for over 50 years, hangs in the hallway of this wonderful building and will be passed on to the new owners.
I am guessing that this may have been taken shortly after the school was built in 1917. If you zoom in, you can see 2 young school kids sitting on the front step. You can also clearly see the dirt road. If only these walls could talk…

One day in 1936 these students at Crozierville Elementary School scribbled their names on the beams of the basement. Who knows, maybe they were down there on detention!!! 86 years later and their names are still there! I think I can make out George Sweigert, Warren Racine and Merrill Shuster? Also maybe Bob Noden. I’m sure many locals recognize these names. How cool is this!

As we empty Dutchman Fountains after over 50 years in business, memories from the building’s past are coming to the surface. How about this photo of Fritz Lechner, the original Dutchman??? We can only wonder about the occasion of this photo…a show at Lenni Heights Firehouse maybe??? I‘m sure many people in our town still remember this striking character.
