This March, George Washington University graduate students partnered with GfH to explore barriers to cervical cancer prevention in Ethiopia. They examined how gender-based violence and structural inequities limit access to care—and how community-led solutions are making a difference.

From Health Extension Workers to discreet HPV self-testing, they saw how women are overcoming stigma to access screening.

We’re grateful for their insights and inspired by the next generation of global health leaders. 💚

This Earth Day, sustainability must include women’s health—and the women who make the coffee industry possible 🌱

Women represent 80% of the labor workforce in coffee and produce up to 50% of the world’s food (a figure that is even higher in many low- and middle-income countries). In the International Year of the Woman Farmer, their role in global agriculture is undeniable—yet many still lack access to basic healthcare.

When women have access to care, the impact strengthens entire systems: more stable livelihoods, more resilient farms and supply chains, and greater gender equity.

For companies committed to responsible sourcing, investing in women’s health is a direct investment in long-term sustainability.
