Most parents get this wrong.
For rear-facing car seats, harness straps should come at or below your child’s shoulders.
This helps keep your child properly positioned and supported in a crash.
It’s a small detail — but one we check on every service.
As a Certified Child Passenger Safety Technician (CPST), part of every Kiddo Clean Seats service includes a quick safety review to make sure everything is set up correctly.

Most car seats aren’t dirty where you can see it.
It’s underneath the padding.
Inside the seat.
Around the harness system.
This is what we find on almost every service:
• Crumbs and debris trapped underneath
• Old milk and spills soaked into fabric
• Buildup around buckles and straps
Wiping the surface doesn’t fix this.
That’s why every Kiddo Clean Seats service includes full disassembly and deep cleaning.

Most car seats aren’t actually clean.
Wiping the surface doesn’t remove what’s underneath.
Every Kiddo Clean Seats service includes:

• Complete disassembly
• Deep cleaning using a material-safe process
• Air drying of each component
• Careful reassembly
• Final safety check
This is why families trust Kiddo Clean Seats — not just for a clean seat, but for peace of mind.

Many parents assume a car seat is safe if it looks fine.
During a cleaning this week I found something serious.
The harness strap was torn.
Most families don’t realize:
• Harness straps cannot be repaired
• A damaged strap can fail in a crash
• Replacement parts must come from the manufacturer
Because the seat was disassembled for cleaning, the damage was caught and the seat was taken out of use immediately.
Every Kiddo Clean Seats service includes a quick safety review — not just cleaning.

If you’re expecting, here’s a quick safety check you can do today:
1️⃣ Grab the seat at the belt path.
It shouldn’t move more than 1 inch side to side.
2️⃣ Check the angle indicator.
Newborn seats must sit at the correct recline.
3️⃣ Harness straps should be at or below baby’s shoulders for rear-facing.
Small details matter.
If you’d rather have a professional review before baby arrives, I’m happy to help.
Safety first. Always.

Pulling the car seat out of storage for baby #2?
Most seats have:
Dust buildup
Old milk residue
Crumbs under the padding
Twisted harness straps
Wiping the surface doesn’t solve what’s underneath.
We safely disassemble (per manufacturer guidelines), deep steam clean, and reassemble with a safety review.
Expecting families are booking before their due dates to avoid last-minute stress.

Lately, many of the families reaching out are expecting.
First baby.
Second baby.
Sometimes even the third.
Here’s why they contact me before delivery:
• To verify installation
• To adjust harness fit properly
• To check expiration + recalls
• To make sure everything is ready before hospital day
Car seats are complicated — especially for newborns.
As a Certified CPST, my role isn’t just cleaning.
It’s making sure your child leaves the hospital safely.
If you’re expecting in the next few months, feel free to reach out with questions.

Most parents assume their car seat is tight enough.
But many seats move more than they should — and it’s easy to miss.
Here’s a quick check you can do in 5 seconds:
Grab the seat at the belt path (where the seat belt or LATCH runs through).
Gently pull side to side and front to back.
A properly installed car seat should not move more than 1 inch in any direction at the belt path.
That’s it.
One small check that can make a big difference.
Most movement happens gradually with everyday driving, loading kids in, and normal use — so it’s a good habit to check every so often.

Crumbs. Debris. Hidden buildup inside the harness system — places most families never see.

They collect bacteria, moisture, and everyday life.
At Kiddo Clean Seats, every seat is fully disassembled, steam cleaned, and reassembled according to manufacturer standards.
Not a wipe down.

Most parents assume their car seat is installed correctly.
Small mistakes — loose LATCH straps, twisted belts, improper recline angles — are incredibly common.
Not because parents don’t care.
Because no one has ever shown them what to look for.
Car seats are engineered safety devices.
They expire.
They require proper installation.
And they should be periodically inspected.
As a Certified Child Passenger Safety Technician,
I help families in Denver & Boulder make sure their seats are both clean and correctly set up.
Peace of mind shouldn’t be a guessing game.
