Extract Labs is a full-service extraction laboratory offering raw plant extractions and advanced refinement techniques to take your source material through an extraction, and then through as much or as little of a refinement process as you prefer. Raw extractions are completed with one of two methods:
Subcritical/Supercritical CO2:CO2 in a Subcritical, or Supercritic
al state can be used as an all-natural, non-toxic, non-flammable solvent. Liquid (Sub-Critical), and Supercritical CO2 work very much like a hydrocarbon solvent, without the toxicity, or flammability of hydrocarbons. CO2 will provide a very clean, and sometimes finished product right out of the system, and in many cases, little to no post processing/refinement is needed. Alcohol:Alcohol works as a very safe, non-toxic solvent that performs a desirable full plant extraction. In some cases alcohol will extract a lot of unwanted “stuff” from the plant material such as chlorophyll. To remove the chlorophyll we recommend a few various refinement and post processing techniques. Alcohol is desirable for its ability to quickly mass process a bulk amount of plant material. Distillation
The winterized (Dewaxed oil) can be further refined through a distillation process. Taking the winterized oil into distillate with a minimum of 20lbs starting plant material. Isolation
The distilled extract, in some cases, can go through an isolation process to remove unwanted material, resulting in a 99% pure extract. This pure extract will end up in crystal, or powder form. If you have your own raw extract that you want taken through a winterization, distillation and/or Isolation process, we can do that. Steam Distillation
We also offer steam distillation services for delicate essential oils, and terpene extractions.
