Team Joni started off with a group of classmates from high school that wanted to do something for Joni (Reinbold) Kuykendall who was a wife and a mother of two that had been battling breast cancer since the age of 35. Joni passed away at the age of 42 after a long, courageous, and often selfless battle. During this time she affected so many people around her, because she never once complained and
always took the time to help others no matter what her prognosis was. She was a true example of finding the joy in life despite your circumstances and passing that joy on to others. She had a very strong faith in God and her favorite saying and signature was faith, hope, and love. When her husband Bruce heard that there was going to be a fundraiser for their family he instantly thought about what Joni would want and knew she would want to pay it forward. Katrenia (Kincaid) Howe another young wife and mother of three from Joni’s hometown had just been diagnosed with breast cancer and was beginning her fight against the disease. He asked that the funds raised go to her family to help her win this battle, thus Team Joni was born. Unfortunately everywhere you look there is a similar story and people who can relate to what our family and so many others like us have gone though, so we could think of no better way to honor Joni’s life and her legacy.
