Virginia Tech helps smaller commercial buildings increase energy efficiency The Advanced Research Institute has completed a thee-year, $2 million project funded by the Department of Energy that helped buildings in Alexandria, Arlington, and Blacksburg save energy — in some instances, as high as 40 percent.
