Earlier this summer, THLN announced that the Texas Legislature had appropriated $13 million to launch a statewide spay and neuter pilot program. Since then, THLN has been in ongoing conversations with shelters, veterinarians, and spay/neuter program operators across Texas, gathering feedback and sharing it with the Department of State Health Services (DSHS) as they make decisions on how to structure this new program.

Though details aren’t finalized yet, we’ll keep monitoring and advocating for the much-needed spay/neuter resources that help communities better serve pets and the people who care for them.
