Hallo from Den Haag in The Netherlands! Here we are at the Kuntsmuseum, which has a VERY large collection De Stijl artifacts. We learned so much about the painters, designers, architects, writers and furniture designers who believed they were bettering the world by simplifying it and blurring the lines between art and life. What a treat! 🇳🇱

Spent a great morning last week with the Arlington Women's Civic Alliance. They brought gifts to wrap for one family in need this holiday season and had an awesome creative experience with Howard and me in our at-home workshop. AWCA is an organization devoted to friendship and philanthropy in Arlington and adjacent communities. We learned how to practice environmental stewardship while gift wrapping with items we would normally throw away. Most store-bought gift wrap products cannot be recycled because of the special coatings and metallics--the majority end up in the landfills. Great work ladies not only on this endeavor but on all the time, effort and money you spend lifting up the many organizations and people who need it in our area. AWCA is making a huge difference! https://www.awcava.org/

Well done last Sunday: students of Congregation Tifereth Israel religious school in Glen Cove, NY! Our design thinking lesson was on using items that we normally throw in the trash to design packaging for their holiday gifts. We teach why packages exist—to organize, sanitize, glamorize—and we point out that packages create some of the worst pollution on the planet. Then we challenged the kids to see the trash through a new lens, recycling it to design gift wrapping and being good environmental stewards in the process. If we can change habits and get kids to ask their families to get through the holiday season without buying wrapping paper products, that is our goal! Did you know we spend $7 billion a year on wrapping paper products? And we create 4 million tons of extra waste every holiday season? We can change that!

Another one of the videos we produced in collaboration with filmmaker Scott Cooper for our terrific client and newly rebranded WeAchieve. Working with Rodney, the star of our video, his mom Carolyn, and Gail Singletary at WeAchieve was very moving. This video features one of WeAchieve's key messages: they are focused on lifelong supports for people with developmental disabilities.
