We’re excited to share a first look at the new spec home we’re building in Arlington, where we had a lighting walkthrough with the builders.
On site, we walked room by room with floor plans in hand, marking exactly where every fixture, recessed light, switch, and dimmer will go. This is where we think through room size, ceiling height, cabinetry, and circulation so a chandelier lands in the right spot, pendants feel in scale with the island, and sconces leave room for mirrors and artwork.
A well-designed lighting plan does far more than brighten a space. Every fixture has to work with the architecture, scale, and function of the room around it. The goal is to create a home that feels intuitive to live in, where lighting supports everything from daily routines to the overall character of the space.

The scullery doesn’t always get the spotlight, but it plays a big role in how a home functions day to day.
When we design these spaces, we’re thinking beyond storage. It’s about how the space will actually be used, how it connects to the kitchen, and what will make hosting and everyday routines feel more seamless.
