Stand by for some BIG NEWS post SHOT Show about this program moving forward.

Making moves with some partners to catapult this little project to where it needs to be.

Rapid Response: Do we need a tactical military medicine approach to MCI response? 09/01/2019

My response to this post in Louisiana Bureau of EMS

The answer, like most things, is not that simple.
But... the simple answer is yes.

However FIRST... we need EVERY SINGLE OFFICER to have a windlass TQ on their person and the minimal training required to use it. For that reason, I am in the process of standing up a non-profit to get TQ on every cop in America.. starting in LA.

Also, we need to start teaching BLS / CPR / AED in middle through High school as a life skill.

In schools, churches, corporate America, and any place where people congregate, we also have to change the response paradigm from a outside-in response to an inside-out response. AT MINIMUM, we need the necessary medical supplies, which are not a lot, needed to stop bleeding in these kinds of mass casualty incidents, ON SITE so treatment can start immediately... which works well with teaching the BLS information as part of primary education.

I also believe we need to do a better job of integrating EMS/FIRE into LE responses. The smart way is with small "tac teams" of trained EMS staff that can respond almost like an armed QRF in these kinds of incidents.

Those with the background and training to be armed in EMS, should. I understand the logic of EMS not being armed due to patient concerns, but even a go-bag with a vest and gun in the truck for appropriately identified and trained individuals is a step in the right direction.

Rapid Response: Do we need a tactical military medicine approach to MCI response? Preparation, practice, standardization and community involvement will enable your EMS agency to act quickly and decisively in response to MCIs

WOW. Thanks for the initial support ya'll. I will be posting more info as this project develops, but it is pretty simple.... EVERY COP SHOULD HAVE A WINDLASS TQ ON THEIR DUTY BELT.

We are going to make that happen.
