Great to be part of the La Selva Beach Clubhouse re-opening and candidate forum. The clubhouse project was a culmination of collaboration by community members who lead the charge to tackle the preservation and remodel this important community asset. Big appreciation to the remodel team tasked with everything from engineering, managing bids, grant writing.

The Lookout ( )is holding a candidate forum at Hotel Paradox on Monday Jan 22. Come down at 6pm to hear from myself and other District 2 Candidates. District 5 will follow at 7pm. Entrance is free and you’ll see the signs to the conference room as soon as you enter through the main doors.

Today, I am reflecting on Martin Luther King’s legacy, his words & his leadership, but also on the words from his daughter, Bernice King, a lawyer & minister who today reminds us that when we evoke her father, we must “remember that he was resolute about eradicating racism, poverty, and militarism.” She reminds us: “Don’t just quote him. Encourage and enact policies that reflect his teachings.” This is exactly the reason that I am running for District Supervisor — to work hard for a Santa Cruz County that is truly equitable for all. I thank Berenice for this call and for those who have amplified her message, as well as those in Santa Cruz County who today reminded us that Martin Luther King was a radical leader that fought hard for racial & economic justice. To honor his life we must commit to do the same with the time we have on this earth.
