It may not be July 4th yet, but "firework season" is creeping up quickly! This week we will be sharing posts on how to manage the stress of the celebrations with pets of all kinds.
While fireworks and festivities may be a summer staple for us, for many dogs, they are stressful, scary and confusing. To help alleviate these feelings, try some of the helpful tips below!
Before the holiday:
🐾 Make sure that collars are secure & have tags with contact information
🐾Microchip your pet if they aren't already! If they are, make sure the microchip information in the registry is up to date.
🐾 Create a safe, quiet hiding spot with enrichment to distract your pet
🐾 Exercise earlier in the day
🐾 Keep pets indoors once festivities begin
If your dog becomes extremely stressed during fireworks, contact your vet NOW to discuss calming options or oral sedatives before the holiday arrives. 💙
