Right after someone sent me a message about an 11 year old dog declining in the shelter, I opened social media and the first thing I saw was Caylee Hammack singing about “old dogs”

I don’t know if you believe in signs, but I do. It was too coincidental to be anything else.

Here was Maya-an 11-year-old dog who found herself back at the very same shelter she was adopted from more than a decade ago.

So we said yes.

Meet Maya. Or as we lovingly crowned her “Maya-Moo” or “Mai Mai”

We’re looking for a person or family willing to be a steward for Maya’s golden years. Someone who recognizes sometimes the best gifts come a little frosted.

The thing about Maya is that she’s wonderfully uncomplicated.

✨Food motivated and always excited when snacks are involved.
✨Happy to lounge nearby and keep you company while you go about your day.
✨Has done well with other dogs, though she’d likely prefer friends who match her calm, easygoing energy rather than rowdy puppy antics.

A few things her future family should know:
✨We’re helping Maya lose some weight so life is a little easier on her joints.
✨As a senior girl, she’ll benefit from joint supplements, routine veterinary care, and all the extra TLC that comes with growing older.
✨We have not cat-tested Maya, so we can’t speak to how she’d do with feline friends.

If you’ve ever thought about opening your heart to a senior dog, maybe Maya is the one you’ve been waiting for.

And maybe, just maybe, you’re the person she’s been waiting for too. 🧡

Oh, Sweet Sam.
Sam came to Wisconsin for his second chance - a Tennessee native. He has been through so much and yet radiates so much joy.

He’s social and enjoys other animals, especially a playful dog companion. He’s also very interested in cats and could do well with a dog-savvy, playful feline who can handle his rough-and-tumble style.

🎾 About 1 year old, neutered male
🎾Mixed breed - working dog
🎾 Thrives in active, engaged homes
🎾 Loves people and structured play
🎾 Dog-friendly (especially playful companions. He would need a dog friend that can match his zest and pep)
🎾 Cat potential with the right match
🎾 Prefers to be near his people (and yes… he snores 😌)

Sam will benefit from someone with an active lifestyle, who understands that Sam will not only benefit from a good amount of physical outlet, but mental stimulation. He is a VERY smart boy. Given the right structure, routine, and meeting his needs, Sam will THRIVE. He just needs someone who can see his potential, help guide his energy, and give him a REAL chance.

Sam isn’t too much.
He is just right for the right person.

What happens when you lose your person?

Meet Libby and Murphy
A bonded pair who had a home, a person, and a life they knew.
They were deeply loved. Their owner was their world, and they were his. But after he passed away unexpectedly, everything changed.
Now they’re at Fox Valley Humane Association, waiting.
Their family is heartbroken and still comes to visit… but they’re not in a position to take them in. So our hope is that someone out there can give them the soft landing they deserve, together.
After spending time with them, we can tell you this: they are gentle, calm, and incredibly sweet. The kind of dogs who just want to be near you.

They’ve already lost everything once.
We don’t want them to lose each other too.

Things to consider when adopting this bonded pair:
🧡 Libby is a ~125 lb Great Dane/Mastiff mix
🧡 Big dogs = lots of food
🧡 Libby is currently on a medication called Apoquel for allergies (likely ongoing)
🧡 Murphy is almost 11 years old and will benefit from joint supplements
🧡 Both are large and older, so a home with older kids is preferred
🧡 Murphy recently had a lesion removed (healing well)
🧡 Libby was recently spayed

🧡 Murphy is almost 11 and Libby is 5 (given her breed and size, her age is considered approaching her golden years alongside Murphy)

They just need a home that will love them through their next chapter… and let them stay side by side.

If you feel called to give Libby & Murphy that home, please reach out directly:

And if you’re not in a position to adopt, sharing this post could be what gets them in front of the right person.

Let’s help them find their way home.
