Left Behind

06/17/2026

We have another case. Local. Rescue refusing to take the dog back.

This baby is only 10 months old. Adopted a few weeks ago from a rescue. The dog was in its own yard and nipped at the mail carrier. Guessing probably to be playful but it did break skin so now she has a bite history. They are requiring her to be euthanized on Monday

This is not acceptable. This will be another re-home case with the knowledge that this poor dog got the shaft. Because of a rescue not taking the dog back and putting this dog through training apparently it's acceptable to allow a 10-month-old puppy to die. Just for being a puppy
Let's make a difference for her. Let's ensure if she gets to live her life. She deserves more than what her opportunity has presented.
It would be great if rescues would take their dogs back and allow us to help others in need. So I guess we will do our best to fight for this little girl. But we need your help.

She's a baby. She hasn't even been in her environment long enough to understand she's home.

Please read the information and share. We need somebody for this little lady

Hi Jill,

My name isi, and I am a friend of . suggested I reach out to you in hopes that you might be able to help us find a way to save a young dog named Josie.

Josie is a 10-month-old puppy who was adopted from about five weeks ago by my elderly neighbor, . She is still adjusting to her new home and environment. Unfortunately, over the weekend, an incident occurred in which Josie nipped a mail carrier's hand, resulting in a minor injury that drew blood.

At the time, Josie was in her yard, which is contained by an invisible fence. She was not on a leash when the mail carrier entered the property within the fence boundary. According to neighbor Josie did not bark, growl, or display any signs of aggression before the incident. She simply jumped up and nipped the carrier's hand. Neighbor fully accepts responsibility and believes this was a management error rather than an indication that Josie is an aggressive dog.

As of yesterday, Josie has been scheduled for euthanasia this coming Monday unless we can find an alternative placement. Neighbor is devastated but feels pressured.

We have already contacted the local rescue, explained the situation, and asked whether they would take Josie back, but they have declined.

At this point, I am desperately searching for any option—a foster home, rescue placement, experienced adopter, or temporary safe haven, that could give Josie a second chance. If you have any advice, resources, or contacts who may be able to help, I would be incredibly grateful.

Thank you so much for your time and consideration.

Josie is 10 months old and has only been in her current home for five weeks. She weighs 30 lbs and is spayed. Josie does great with other dogs both big and small but hasn’t been exposed to cats. She’s great with people but needs guidance around young children as she’s just a puppy yet. She’s the perfect mix of personality and snuggles, and would do great in a home with or without another dog as she’s just as happy to be snuggled up with her people and blankies! Josie is house and crate trained, and responds to basic commands. She’s sweet as pie!!
