Must be local to the Apopka, Florida area.

A. Purpose and Scope

The Assistant Greenhouse Manager is responsible for assisting in the daily management and operation of the greenhouse department and supporting the Greenhouse Manager in ensuring efficient production, plant health, staff supervision, and compliance with company standards and regulations.


B. Responsibilities

• Assist in managing the daily operation of the greenhouse, including space allocation, planting, watering, fertilizing, potting, insect and disease control, and maintaining proper plant growth environments.

• Serve as a resource to greenhouse staff by assisting with questions related to appropriate cultural practices for plants being grown or planned for production.

• Assist with maintaining proper inventory levels of supplies necessary for plant production and health, including chemicals, pots, soil, fertilizers, and related materials.

• Monitor and help maintain greenhouse facilities and surrounding areas to ensure cleanliness, organization, and proper appearance.

• Assist in ensuring the safe and proper use of company equipment.

• Support and supervise greenhouse projects to ensure specifications and production goals are met.

• Assist in overseeing sticking and potting procedures to ensure proper techniques and coordination with production schedules.

• Supervise assigned personnel and assist in maximizing workforce productivity and efficiency.

• Assist with implementing and monitoring pest management programs.

• Assist with conducting training for greenhouse staff regarding Worker Protection Standards, E.P.A. regulations, O.S.H.A. regulations, tractor and equipment procedures, pesticide applications, and other safety procedures; maintain appropriate records.

• Ensure compliance with Worker Protection Standards, E.P.A. regulations, O.S.H.A. regulations, and all applicable State and Federal requirements.

• Comply with all company policies and procedures.

• Perform administrative duties as assigned by management.

• Assume Greenhouse Manager responsibilities in their absence.

• Perform other duties as needed or assigned.


C. Qualifications

Education and Training
• College or higher education preferred.
• Bilingual preferred.

Technical Requirements
• Minimum of 2–3 years of greenhouse or related horticultural experience.

Managerial Experience
• Previous supervisory or leadership experience preferred (1–2 years preferred).
