Cathi Forbes has been advocating for the people of Baltimore County for two decades, as a community organizer, an education advocate, and now as a member of the Maryland House of Delegates. When Rodgers Forge Elementary became the state’s most overcrowded school, Cathi founded Towson Families United, a coalition of residents and businesses. Their efforts resulted in the construction of West Towson and Mays Chapel elementary schools, plus additions or major renovations at Hampton Elementary, Stoneleigh Elementary and Dumbarton Middle. Today, she is leading the fight to rebuild Towson High, the county’s oldest and most overcrowded high school. As a Delegate, Cathi has consistently voted “on the right side of history” with regard to educational equity, social justice, the environment and access to quality health care. She’s sponsored new laws that make college more affordable for low- and middle-income families, grant county library employees the right to collectively bargain, help homeowners remove racist and anti-Semitic language from property deeds, and give blind Marylanders a voice on the state’s library board. Cathi’s earned a reputation for doing her homework, arguing not with vitriol but with facts, and delivering exceptional constituent service. Throughout the pandemic, she has helped countless residents receive unemployment payments owed to them, and cut through red tape on behalf of local businesses. Cathi lives in Towson with her husband, John, their son Sam, and their dog Sparky. Their older son, Louie, lives in Philadelphia.
