Evolution Sails Annapolis

Larry Leonard began his sailmaking career in 1976, and now has, over 35 years of experience as a yachtsman, sailmaker, and professional sailor. During this time, he founded and operated, Leonard Sails, Sobstad Sails Chesapeake, and the Quantum Sail Design Group. He is an America’s Cup veteran, racing in Fremantle, Australia, in 1987, has provided sails to two winning Volvo Round the World Campaigns, the America’s Cup winner, Bill Koch, in 1992, and to many World and National Champions, during his long career. Now, he is joining Rodney Keenan in forming a new division of Evolution Sails called Evolution Sails Special Projects. Together, they will focus on the selling of sails, and providing high level service to super-yachts in Europe.

Scott Gibbs, began sailmaking in 1991, and now has over 25 years of experience as a yachtsman, sailmaker, sail designer, and professional sailor. During this time, he has worked for Sobstad Sailmakers Chesapeake, the Quantum Sail Design Group, North Sails, and was one of the co-founders of Evolution Sails in 2009, where he owned and operated a production loft in Oxford, MD, that specialized in Carbon/Aramid fiber sail membranes, for high performance cruising and racing yachts. As a professional sailor, Scott has participated in many one-design and offshore races, winning multiple National and World Championships.
