Plans for an Izumi Restaurant and Retail Center will be presented before the Planning and Zoning Commission on Tuesday, April 7th for a location just south of Costco at 1950 NE 36th Street. It will be a 17,930 square foot, multi-tenant building on 2.14 acres. Izumi Restaurant will anchor the western half of the building.

The City of Ankeny is in the very beginning stages of planning to extend NE 18th Street to NE Frisk Drive. This will involve building a bridge over I-35 as well as an 8-foot sidewalk on the south side of the street along with storm sewer and street lighting. Environmental, traffic and concept studies along with topographic and boundary surveying of the land will be starting soon. Future hearings will be held on the project but none are planned yet since it is in the beginning stages. The projected timeline is to have the final design and right-of-way acquisitions to happen in 2028, with construction to occur in the 2029-2031 time frame. As you can see, this is a future project and things can change. Time will tell and this is all the information as of now..
