Youth Ministry Summer Updates ☀️ Links to these events will be available in the newsletter in your email!

🥫New Process for Bottle/Can Donations: We are partnering with ABC Cans (1317 SW Ordnance Rd, Ankeny) to collect recyclables. There are THREE ways you can donate. You can either bring the cans yourself and bring the cash to the OLIH office, scan the QR Code (found on the bulletin boards outside of the office and youth room) OR you can drop off your cans in the Youth Room between 9-5pm on the last Thursday of the month, beginning June 25. We will also offer can drives September 8-13 and December 1-6.

🪏Community Night: We are having a Service Night and Ice Cream Social on Monday, June 29. We will be helping at the Agape Gardens (7384 NW 16th St, Ankeny) from 5:15pm-7:30pm. Sign up is required as volunteer spots are limited. You can sign up by emailing McKenna. Afterwards, we will head to The Outside Scoop for a sweet treat. You do not have to attend the gardening session to join us for dessert. Please bring money for your ice cream. This evening is open to youth in grades 6-12 and their families.

🏈 Iowa Barnstormers Ice Cream Social & Football Game: We will have TWO opportunities to hang out with the Iowa Barnstormers this summer! First, on July 15 from 5-7pm in the Banquet Hall/Gym, we will have a FREE Ice Cream Social! Come enjoy a sundae and meet some of the Iowa Barnstormers! Then, join us for a night of Indoor Football on July 24 at 6pm at the Casey's Center. These events are open to parishioners of all ages and their families.

⚾️ Cosmic Baseball: Reminder: If you bought tickets for Cosmic Baseball at Principal Park, the game is quickly approaching - July 17 with a Block Party starting at 5pm, gates open at 6:30pm, and First Pitch is at 8pm! You should have received the tickets in the email you purchased them with.

✨ Ad Astra Youth Retreat: Servafidem is offering a two day retreat, July 17-18, at Grand View University for High School Students. This retreat hopes to bring young people closer to their purpose and will feature worship, keynotes, music, art, and more! The deadline to register is June 25. Tickets are $52.83. You can register here. This event is open to students in grades 9-12.

🧀Cheeses n Jesus Collaboration: Beginning August 1, we will be partnering with Nick Rahe from Cheeses n Jesus (a cheesecake company!). He has graciously offered to donate a percentage of his sales to OLIH Youth Ministry. Nick is a parishioner at St. Luke's and is a part of the Catholic Business Alliance. You can order his cheesecakes by clicking this link. This promotion will run through at least December, so be sure to get your orders in and support a Catholic Small Business and your OLIH Youth!

🎣 We Are The Fishers of Men Fishing Trip: Youth Ministry invites young people in grades 6-12 and their families to join us for a day of fishing, community, a cookout in early/mid August! Full details will be announced soon. Please let us know by Wednesday, July 8, which date works best for you by voting here. This event will be open to students in grades 6-12 and their families.

Youth Ministry Week is off to a solid start!

Last night we watched Rio, enjoyed popcorn and drinks, and got to hear some great piano pieces!

This morning, we had waffles, key lime pie, fruit, and drinks and got to share in the excitement for VBS!!

Tomorrow is our service day from 2-4. We’ve got a lot to do around OLIH so be sure to bring a friend. Snacks and water will be provided.
