Quail egg fun facts!
Quail eggs are a tiny superfood. Measuring about one-fourth the size of chicken eggs, they boast a significantly higher yolk-to-white ratio. This means they are richer and creamier in texture, and pound-for-pound packed with more iron, vitamin B12, and amino acids than chicken eggs.
•Nutritional Powerhouses: Despite their size, these eggs are considered a nutrient-dense superfood. They are loaded with selenium, riboflavin, and choline, and ounce-for-ounce can contain up to five times more iron and potassium than chicken eggs.
•Flavor-Packed Rarity: Because quails take about 36 hours to produce an egg (compared to a chicken's 24-hour cycle), their eggs are somewhat rarer and more expensive. Thanks to that large yolk, they add a rich, intense flavor to gourmet dishes.
•Distinct Shell Patterns: Each female quail lays an egg with a unique speckled pattern. Because the pattern is identical every time she lays, farmers can often identify exactly which bird laid which egg!
•Natural Preservation: If unwashed, the eggs have a protective "bloom" that allows them to sit out at room temperature for up to a week. When refrigerated, they stay fresh for up to six weeks.

Emmy and her chicks. We purchased 3 black copper marans (females) and a turkey (hopefully a female). I might not have told Brandon we bought a turkey. 🙈 I'm hoping they survive, she's sitting on them in the hay loft and it's HOT out there.
