When setting up your new coop, you'll need to decide what kind of bedding layer you want on the floor. 🐔💩 Ideally, you'll find something that meets both your needs and your chickens' needs. Something almost akin to litter: absorbent, easy to maintain, maybe even compostable. These are some of the options we see the most:
🌱 Straw: Great when you can keep it dry (like in the covered coop!), compostable, accessible, insulating
🌲 Wood/pine shavings: Absorbent, easy to clean, compostable, insulating
🏖 Sand: Quick drying, easy to clean, natural inorganic grit

It can take some experimenting to find what works just right for you and your birds. If you've owned chickens for a while, what have you tried? What's worked and what hasn't?
