Happy August 25 Folks,
I hope the summer has been special for you. Even with the joy, all the fires and other events can't help but have a sobering effect.
As those of you who know me are aware, I am a Holikachuk Athabascan Elder 82, with a master's degree in psychology from UAF. My grandparents who "raised" me were spiritual healers, (which is what probably kept me alive)
For most of my young years, I suffered with anxiety and depression. For a time I self-medicated with alcohol, which made things worse instead of better.
Here are some valuable lessons I have learned. We are all created perfect to the image and likeness of our Creator. I am as good as everyone else, not better not worse...equal. Each of us have our own unique gifts or talents. It is up to us to discover and nurture it, whatever it is.
Here are some suggestions: 1. Respect: Learn to love and respect yourself... as well as others. 2. Gratitude, Be grateful, give thanks everyday. 3. Forgive yourself and others, 4. Give. Be of service in some way, it doesn't have to be huge, (to be cont.)
